About this Policy

In the course of doing business, Benchmark is entrusted with confidential, proprietary and private information about its clients – including private information about the customers or employees of our clients – as well as private information about Benchmark associates.

We have a responsibility to protect all confidential, proprietary and private information given to us by our clients.

We take the responsibility for the privacy of personal information about our clients, their employees and customers, and Benchmark associates very seriously. Benchmark has established this Privacy Policy to protect the privacy rights of its clients, associates and others. This Privacy Policy has been created to conform to the ten privacy principles developed by the Canadian Standards Association.


Benchmark is accountable for all personal information in its possession or custody, including any personal information disclosed to third parties for processing or other administrative functions.

Identifying Purposes

Benchmark shall identify the purposes for which personal information is collected either before or at the time the information is collected.


The knowledge and consent of the individual are required for the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information, except where inappropriate, or where required or permitted by law. In cases where personal information of customers or employees of Benchmark clients is conveyed to Benchmark by Benchmark clients, we will ensure that consent requirements are met.

Limiting Collection

Collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified by Benchmark. In assignments conducted for clients, collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes of the assignment. In all cases, the information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.

Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention

Personal information shall not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as required or permitted by applicable law, rules or regulations. Personal information shall be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.


Personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up-to-date as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it is to be used. In the case of an assignment conducted for a client, Benchmark will verify the personal information with the client.


Personal information shall be protected by security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity level of the information, and in the case of information provided to Benchmark by clients, in accordance with agreed safeguards.


Benchmark shall make information available to its clients and associates about the policies and practices that apply to the management of their information.

Individual Access

Upon request, an individual shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their information, and shall be given access to it. An individual may verify the accuracy and completeness of their information, and may request that it be amended if appropriate.

Challenging Compliance

Questions or complaints with respect to privacy and the Benchmark privacy policy or practices may be directed to designated people within Benchmark.
